Design Studio and Artistic Tapestry Production

The artisan production of kilims, tapestries, and Albanian traditional costumes is a centuries-old tradition in Kukës. Valdrin endeavors to continue this tradition through its Design Studio and Artistic Tapestry Production division. The Design Center works in cooperation with specially trained weavers who produce original works of modern art.

Technical information:

The adaptation of the design from the original art work is realized on the computer.
The tapestry is woven by hand on a traditional loom. The raw materials include: 100% natural wool and 100% cotton as the base.
The thickness varies from 45,000 knots/m2 to 350,000 knots/m2. The length of the weave is dependent upon the density of the weave.
The price of the of the tapestry depends upon the dimensions, thickness, and intensity of the visual elements.

Techniques:

The techniques and processes are tested, authenticated, and verified in laboratory experiments and appear on the label attached to the backside of every tapestry.
The designs offered are all unique. No more than five pieces of each design will be made.
Each tapestry contains the artist’s signature and the duration of time it took to weave the tapestry. The label on the back side of the tapestry indicates the names of the weavers and the technical details, such as the number of rows.
